Solve the Clue & The End of Mystery of Boscombe Pool
After we arrive at the hotel, I tell Watson about the clue of this case. In the beginning, we have two things that we both notice; “Cooee” sound and a rat. Clearly that father was not calling his son because he knew that his son is not here. But James heard this sound, so he thought that his father called him. “Cooee” is for the person that old McCarthy was going to meet. Also, “Cooee” is a special call that Australians use. The second is rat. I take off an Australia map and fix it out to the word “BALLARAT.” This should be the BALLARAT because his father wanted to tell the name of murderer but James only understood the last part of the word ‘A RAT.’
I know that the murderer was tall because I found the space between footmarks was long and the marks also told what kind of boots he wore. Furthermore, the mark on the right foot was less clear than left foot. It showed that he stood more heavily on the left because his right leg hurt him. Also, I found the ash from the cigar under the tree, it was an Indian cigar from shop in Rotterdam. And he use cigar-holder, I known because the end of cigar was cut off, not bitten off and the cut is not clear, so the pocket-knife is not a sharp one.
Now, there is a visitor, Mr. John Tuner, he looks very seriously ill. He got my message that I want to see him, so he comes. He already knows that why he has to come, he feels guilty that he made young McCarthy get hurt. So, he will tell us everything.
John Tuner starts telling us by describe the dead man is a true criminal, bad in every possible way. “He has sat on my back for twenty years and made my life impossible. Now, I will tell you how I met him. When I was in Australia, I and my friends, we are a gangster. Black Jack of Ballarat was the name I took and in Australia people still remember our group as the Ballarat Boys. One day, there was a carriage was carrying gold, so we hid beside and took it by surprise. After we got gold, we decided to let the driver of that carriage go. The driver of the carriage is McCarthy. After that I became a rich man and back to England. I stop doing the bad thing and become a better man after Alice was born," John Tuner said.
"On day in London, I met McCarthy by accident, he seem did not have anything such as shoes and coat on his back. He started the conversation that if I will not take care of them, McCarthy and his son, he will tell that story to the police," John Tuner said.
"So, I let them live at my farm and they lived without paying. He asked for everything and I have to give it to him such as a house, a carriage or money. Also, he asked me that he wanted my daughter and his son married. But there is something that I could not give him is my daughter because if they are married, young McCarthy will get everything. I did not hate the boy but his father’s blood is in him. So, McCarthy was ready to go to the police, so I decide to meet him at the pool to have an agreement one more time," John Tuner said.
"When I went there I saw McCarthy and his son was having a quarrel about Alice. I hid behide a tree and smoked a cigar. I heard the conversation that he was pressing his son to marry my daughter. Every words he said, it makes me feel black and angry. Also, I do not want him to tell my secret. After young McCarthy left, I hit him and he fall. He screams bought his son running back. I have to hide behind the tree but I dropped my coat, so I quickly get it and run away,” John Tuner said.
So the murderer is clear that John Tuner is the murderer and he die after seven months. The young McCarthy came out from the prison because the few facts which I helped him and made him is not guilty of murder. But the Mystery of Boscombe Pool is still the mystery because I did not give the whole story to the police, so everyone will not know the truth about who is the murder except John Tuner, Watson and I.

After we arrive, Lestrade was waiting us and take us to a hotel. A young woman, Miss Turner, come to visit us and tell me something that she is very sure that James did not do it and she want me to believe this thing.
Then Lestrade and I go to prison to meet James while Watson is staying in hotel. Watson notices that the wounds of Mr. Charles McCarthy were in a group on the back left-side of his head. Watson tells this information to me after I come back.
This morning, we go to Hatherley Farm where Mr. Charles McCarthy’s lived and Boscombe Valley. We also go to the place of the murder. I am very excited about the case, I study everything around here very carefully such as ground, footmarks and other things from the marks on the grass. I notice footmarks of young McCarthy, his father and someone walking on his toes. In boots with square toes too. After that, I go to Morans’ home, and then I back to the carriage to the hotel.
On the way, I give the information about the murderer that he is a tall man, left-handed, with a bad right leg. He wears thick shooting boots and a gray coat, smokes Indian cigars, uses a cigar-holder and carries a pocket-knife – not a very sharp one.
Who is the murderer? Is the murderer still be James?

After that, James came to a girl’s home without gun. He needed help for his father because his father already death near the pool. They found his father’s dead body lying on the grass. He got many wounds in his head, made by something thick and heavy. Both of girl’s parents though that it was wooden part of young man’s gun. It was lying on the grass near the dead man. At the end, police came and locked James up because everything and witnesses in this event point to James is a murderer.
However, there are some people who believe that James is not guilty especially Miss Turner. That’s why she needs help from me for solving this case.
I pass the newspaper to Watson, he reads it carefully. It talks about Mr. James’s testimony. He said that “He heard someone call “Cooee!” near the Boscombe Pool. Usually my father and I use this call. I followed that sound and met my father. We had an argument at each other and then I left. After that, I heard scream from the pool so I ran back. I found my father was dying and he spoke something about rat. Then, I saw piece of gray cloth but it was gone when I looked at it again”.

On the train, I have a large amount of newspapers about this murder case. I try to look, read, write and think about them. After that, I keep only one interesting paper with me.
I tell this article to Watson about the background of Mr. John Turner and Mr. Charles McCarthy families which seemed to be a good friend. They have first met in Australia and now live in the same neighbourhood in Boscombe Valley. Mr. John Turner is a rich man and has one daughter while Mr. Charles McCarthy has a son.
Furthermore, I tell Watson about the murder case. Last Monday, 3 June, Mr. Charles McCarthy had an important appointment with someone at 3 pm. at Boscombe Pool and he never came back from there.
There are two persons (an old woman and Mr. Turner’s manservant) confirm that Mr. Charles McCarthy walked through to the Pool. After a few minute, they saw McCarthy’s son, Mr. James McCarthy, going into the same way with his gun. They did not think anything about James’s gun until they heard of McCarthy’s death.
There is another person who saw this event, Ms. Patience Moran. She is a little girl who went around there. She saw both of McCarthy seem to be very angry and saw that his son ready to have a fight with his father but she run away before.
What will happen next?

Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of Boscombe Pool
Hello everyone, my name is Sherlock Holmes. I always wear long gray coat and my favourite hat; this is my normal clothes. I have one close friend named Dr. Watson who always helps me for many cases.
And now, I have one crime that is very interesting. It is called the Boscombe Pool murder. I have to find the real murderer in this case who killed Mr. Charles McCarthy. There is one girl who saw Mr. McCarthy and his son in the Boscombe Pool nearly having a fight but she run home before. The Detective Lestrade of Scotland Yard judged that his son, James, killed his father. But Miss Turner did not believe that James will kill his father, so she wants me to find the real guilty man.
Today I send the telegram to my friend, Dr. Watson. I ask him to go with me to the west of England for this case. We will solve this case together. I will wait him at the Paddington train station.
